Mr. Adams is a native of Alexander City, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1965 and received his law degree in 1968 from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was law clerk to Associate Justice Pelham Merrill of the Alabama Supreme Court. He joined the firm in 1969 and has been managing partner since 1986. Mr. Adams is a former President of the Lee County Bar Association. He served as Opelika City Judge for 15 years. He was very active in the Alabama State Bar serving as President from 1991-92, as a member of the Board of Bar Commissioners from 1983- 1990, and the Board of Disciplinary Appeals from 2000-2008. He is a Fellow in the Alabama Law Foundation; Life Fellow in the American Bar Foundation; Member of the House of Delegates, American Bar Association, from 1991-95 as well as a member of the Section of Dispute Resolution; Alabama Defense Lawyers Association; Alabama Academy of Attorney Mediators; and, a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.
Mr. Adams was recognized by Birmingham Magazine as one of the Best Lawyers in Alabama, 2007; listed in Best Lawyers in America 2008 Edition in the specialty of Alternative Dispute Resolution; listed in Alabama Super Lawyers, 2008-2011; Best Lawyers 2011 Montgomery Area Alternative Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year; and, awarded rating of AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell for thirty years. Mr. Adams is a registered mediator in Alabama and concentrates his practice in that area.
He and his wife, Chris, have two sons, Josh and Kirk. He enjoys playing golf in his off time.
